21C MUSEUM HOTELS

Collaboration with artist Brendan Fernandes to create large-scale video works for 21c Museum Hotels. The project transformed Fernandes’s illustrations — based on masks from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s African collection — into animated compositions layered with 3D scans of shells from his birthplace of Nairobi, Kenya. The resulting display generated hundreds of shifting variations that engaged questions of patrimony, tactility, and materiality.
